I have a model from Daz studios I’m going to rig. So I don’t run into trouble I wanted to ask what most of you do when rigging a high polygon model.

I want to use the skin wrap and drive the hi poly off of the low poly model.

Has anyone worked with Pro optimize when skinning characters?  Is it a good choice to you or am I better of making a low poly model to drive the character?

Or is their another way I’m not thinking of?

looks like pro-optimize isn’t too bad, need to fix a few things but I think it might be doable. I will find out...if not I’ll be making a lower rez model

After playing around with it, I think it is better to take your time and edit your mesh by hand. ProOptimizer I’m sure is good for landscapes and stuff like that but it isn’t that great for skinning a character.

Much easier in the long run to do it yourself.

Yes, making a lo-poly mesh will give a much cleaner skin friendly mesh. You have control of where the detail is, where it’s needed at the joints.

Custom mesh only, you need something nice and clean to be able to skin properly.
