ASCII file format and better XREFs for characters

Here are two feature request regarding using 3ds Max for large scale feature or TV animation.

1: An ASCII-based file format, so that it’s easier to script, debug and modify 3ds Max scene files.

2: Right now, it doesn’t seem to be possible to xref an advanced character rig into an animation scene (a rig with expressions, wiring etc). If there is a way that a character could be referenced into a new file, and updated separately, that would be great.
