I think we can add a fluid and muscle sim to Max. That will balance it out with Maya....

Yes, that what is missing , a system for making the muscles and skin like Maya has.

The CAT Muscle system will be included in the next version. Subscribers already have it.

It’s true, but I thought of a more realistic and complicated muscle system and easier to use than the Cat Muscle. Still I don’t know if the system of Maya is usable for a little film for example or if it is just for making some complicated pictures.

More complicated and easy to use? That’s a challenge. :)

FYI, CAT will stay a subscription only benefit for the known future as stated by Ken on his blog. AFAIK it won’t ship with 2010, since it came so late in the development cycle of 2010.

The story for 3ds Max/Design 2010 is that we will *not* be shipping CAT with it (it came too late into our dev cycle). However we will continue to make it available to all subscription customers around the same time that 3ds Max/Design 2010 ships.

Oh, I missed that. I assumed it would be in 2010, since that’s usually what happens with subscription extensions. I was hoping for some proper documentation with it too. CAT is still new to me, I haven’t had much free time to play with it, and info on it, particularly with muscles is a bit sparse so far.

Ok muscle system can be a great improvement but it can be usefull if you do a lot of character animation but what about the fluid simulation, no matter what you do in 3ds max desing or archtitechtural visualization, motion graphics, visual fx (of course) or charachter animation you will alway need to make some fluid stuff so please

CAT muscle system is not bad, it only needs a bit of debugging but for the rest is an easy way to obtain good results and doesen’t need so many experience to use it like the Maya muscle system needs

The fluids are really missing in max, FumeFX is a very good solution, could be a good idea to put it in max definitively but not only it, also afterburn, PFlow BOX#2, BOX#3 and RayFIre.

The list of plugins for do good FX is long....
