3dsmax is the best 3d software ever, but it includes the worst skinnig modifier ever ( sorry autodesk) can you please improve the skin modifier for me, just like the bonepro plugin does; its the only wish that i have :)
i dont want to wait until Max 2012 so please make it in upgrades :D

While working upon new student short 3d with a character of 40K poly and doing skinning for it I discovered that improvements in Skin modifier,any kind - be it performance or new tools in it, would be something very much appreciated.

one improvement would be incorporate the viewport canvas tools for painting skinweights.
One of best things about Maya was the artisan tools and painting skin weights was intuitive and easy.
Although I didn’t fully test it in 2011 the paint weights is still not very intuitive or responsive.

Initial enveloping/weighting could be much better. Transposing in Zbrush is simple and imtuitive with no envelopes (similar to skinning). Basic skinning in Messiah works pretty good with no adjustment.

Non uniform cross sections like Physique had would be helpful.

Frustrating.

I never get to undestand if they have a nice skinning for softimage and maya, same company, why not take well done stuff from these software and put it into max, because in order to do a bunch of characters rigging I had to buy bones pro!

Well, Same here , to be honest the max skin is the worst one avalible i guess , Maya’s one is very powerfull and easy and really really fast !

i hope they will at least bring Maya’s one into max because really it’s painful to work with max skin and the worst thing is when models are over 20k .

i just hope they will release something like an upgrade for max 2012 or maybe for the 2013 ! .
