I don’t know if this gets read by the Autodesk folks or not but, here it goes....
We need to have a checkbox on the Merge dialog box that asks “Display hidden objects in scene or remain hidden?” The current problem is that if you Merge a file with hidden objects they DON’T show up in the scene - they remain hidden. The problem with this is that if you have a scene with, say, 250 objects (having names like box07, plane21, cone03, etc.) and you Merge a file that also has some generic names, you will have a nearly impossible time figuring out which objects in the “Hidden” list belong to the object(s) you just Merged. Autodesk was good enough to hilight the new objects Merged into the scene so you have a chance to make a selection set out of them, or to group them...but that doesn’t do you any good if many of the objects you just merged are hidden. Currently the only way around this is to save the work in your current file (call this file #1), open the file you want to Merge and and Unhide everything, save that file (call this file #2), open up file #1 your first file and then Merge file #2. A function that would unhide all objects would be very helpful.
On that note there is something that has seemingly been overlooked. When you Import a file there is no ability to AUTO RENAME duplicate names...there is only a “SKIP” and “OK”. I recently imported a 3DS file where I clicked 128 times on the OK button before I gave up. AUTODESK ! PLEASE put an AUTO RENAME on the IMPORT function!
Thank you for your consideration
