I recently switched from Viz 2006 to Max 2008, and was pleased to find a Reset option in the File menu. I guess I’m not sure if it was in Viz or not, but I don’t recall having seen it. But this is something I’d wanted for some time.
However, being in architecture, it’s common to switch between Imperial and Metric depending on what project I’m working on. If working Imperial, I’ll have the maxstart file set to feet and inches. But when I switch to Metric, I have to open it and change it over. Then back again. And sometimes you want to work in feet, inches, meters or millimeters. Not that switching between them is difficult, but sometimes there are a few other settings that need to be tweaked, like what render engine you want to use.
What I would like to see is several maxstart files, and selecting Reset would allow you to choose which one to Reset to. It would be like setting up templates.
