For example.

File > View image File > select an AVI
Results in the error(s) shown below. This is because it is forcing the use of Windows Media Player, also the error is incorrect - there is a file association for .avi - Media Player Classic. If I use Windows Explorer and double-click the same avi MPC fires up and plays the avi perfectly.

Max 4.2 through 2013.
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.
