Scene Explorerer & CTL Select - Proper Display of Selection Status

If you CTL select multiple items in the Scene Explorer view, the last line clicked always displays as bright yellow no matter if it is currently “selected” or not.  There needs to be some visual indication if that item is actually included or excluded from the current selection (like maybe grey or a darker yellow).  To see what I’m talking about, create 3 spheres in a blank scene, then open the SE.  CTL click each one until you get to the last object.  You should see your status line read “3 objects selected”.  Now, with CTL still pressed, click the last sphere in SE again.  The yellow color does NOT change, yet the status reads “2 objects selected”. 

Very bad UI design and counter-intuitive.  Happens in both Max 2010 and 2011.
