Found an suitable answer to my question on the defaulting configuration settings by perusing the 3D Connexion forums.
Though I didn’t investigate about the defaulting configuration I did pick up that the Config button on the SP toggles through all the
configurations that have been saved for the active program. So, since I only have the default and another one for Max one push
of the button puts my configuration on the screen.
Works for me.
