Hello,

I am experiencing a number of problems with the AutoCAD FBX exporter. The biggest issue is that exported geometry (extrusions, boxes, capped cylinders, etc.) are importing into Softimage as separate polymeshes. A box becomes 6 faces, a cylinder becomes a curved surface and two end faces, and so on. I wanted to test if this was an AutoCAD or Softimage problem, so I tried re-importing the AutoCAD generated fbx file back into AutoCAD and nothing happened - no geometry at all and no error messages.

Are these known issues with the AutoCAD fbx toolset? Based on other postings it seems there are problems with exporting materials as well. I am pleased to see that there is finally a replacement for the old 3ds export functionality in AutoCAD, but the current effort seems really half-baked. Are there fixes/patches scheduled?

Thank you,
Erin

This is sick.. I’ve been searching the web for hours now because I have the same problem.. no answer anywhere :( Are we the only ones having this problem? My fbx export from AutoCAD is totally unusable. Every triangle is a separate object.
