I’m trying to export a model from XSI to Motionbuilder, via Crosswalk 3.2’s FBX export.

The model comes in fine, textured, with bones, and all, but all the textures are rendered as black. After some considerable experimentation, we’ve discovered that is because the UVs aren’t being exported at all.

We’ve tried freezing the UVs in Softimage, we’ve tried exporting as ASCII, nothing has worked. The only way we’ve been able to move the textured model across was by exporting as OBJ - which obviously loses all our rigging.

Is there any way to successfully get UV data from Soft to Motionbuilder along with a rigged model? Is there anything we’re missing? Suggestions welcomed.

Hi Nomad,

I ran some tests to reproduce your issue of exporting UVs out of XSI and importing it into MotionBuilder. I attempted this using Crosswalk FBX 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 but was not able to reproduce your results.

I suspect that this issue may be related to unsupported materials. If you run a test of having a simple phong material with an image applied to the phong’s color channel, does it work?

If the issue persists, please send us a scene that allows us to reproduce your issue.

Added note, if you would prefer not publicly uploading your scene to the Area, please feel free to send it to us by email at .

Thank you,
