Hi Everyone,

As the title says, I cant get any custom attributes applied to an objects material to export into the FBX file. Custom Attributes applied via the Parameter Editor to the mesh using “Selected Objects Current Modifier” export fine, but when they are applied via “Selected Objects Current Material” they do not export to the FBX file. Maya exports the attributes fine for both the mesh and materials. Im using 3dsMax 2011 64bit and 2010 as the FBX version. The 2011 version didnt work either. Any ideas to why, and what the solution might be?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi MikeKnight !....

I’ve done a quick experiment in Max 2011 using the FBX 2011.3 plugin, I found that ( so far...) in a Max export/import example using Material CA’s, static CA’s appear to come accross and retain their values, but Animated CA’s have some issues, mainly that the animation on the CA’s do not come accross, and as well, their values are lost ( 0 )

When you say that Material Custom Attributes are not working for you at all, I would like to ask what exactly your workflow is ? ( are you going to Maya ?.....Motionbuilder ? )........can you provide steps to repro and/or a file that we can look at here ?

Like I said, in my initial “ experiment “ I am currently investigating potential issues , I just want to make sure that I’m not missing your issue when I log what I’m seeing.

Thanks for your help with this !......Nice catch !!......:-)
