export the visibility channel from Maya with fbx

I want to export several animated pieces that have visibility on/off keys using fbx, however it never seems to register the visibility channel.

When importing the .dae file into either Maya or Max I get an error saying

Warning: Unknown animation channel: shard4/visibility

Anyone know how to fix this?
