Hello
I am evaluating Collada, FBX, and similar commercial product to export model data from Maya.
I searched this forum, and there is an entry saying that FBX exports all of Maya’s known extra attributes.
It works for the extra attributes on trans node, but the extra attributes in Lambert material are not exported at all.

1. Is there any way to export the materials’ extra attributes as out of box features?

2. if not, can I extend the fbx maya plugins to export it?

I know I could use cgfx shader material to have custom attributes, but because of some reason, I want to use the lambert material with extra attributes.

Thanks in advance!

Masaki

Hi mnomura,

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately there is no out of the box solution for this at the current time however we do have plans to introduce this functionality in a future release of the FBX Plug-in.

If you would like to keep up to date with our developments I recommend that you join our “My Feedback” program which will provide you with access to the latest FBX Plug-in betas. While this new functionality has yet to be developed there is the possibility that it will be included in a future beta release. It would be great to get your feedback on its functionality.

If you’re interested, please send us an email at and provide your name, company and company email address.

Thanks,

What about user created attributes?  It would be useful to export them as well.
