Hello Area Community!

FBX 2012.1 is now officially available for download on http://www.autodesk.com/fbx.  We believe this is our most stable, enhanced and robust version of our data interchange technology to date.

FBX 2012.1 is a full feature upgrade from FBX 2011 versions (Up to 2011.3.1)

If you have installed 3ds Max 2012 or 3ds Max Design 2012, the FBX 2012.0 plug-in has been installed with the default installation, you will need to download and install the FBX 2012.1 plug-in to enjoy the latest bug fixes and enhancements, Maya 2012 already comes with the FBX 2012.1 plug-in.

This release includes FBX 2012.1 Plug-ins for the following products:
Autodesk 3ds Max 2010 (WIN 32/64-bit)
Autodesk 3ds Max 2011 (WIN 32/64-bit)
Autodesk 3ds Max 2012 (WIN 32/64-bit)
Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2010 (WIN 32/64-bit)
Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2011 (WIN 32/64-bit)
Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2012 (WIN 32/64-bit)
Autodesk Maya 2010 (WIN 32/64 bit / MAC / Linux 64-bit)
Autodesk Maya 2011 (WIN 32/64 bit / MAC / Linux 64-bit)
Autodesk Maya 2012 (WIN 32/64 bit / MAC / Linux 64-bit)

What’s new in FBX 2012.1?

FBX Help Documentation Changes - As of this release, all FBX Help documentation is available from a website, rather than installed locally

Improved import/export performance - Import of FBX files is now up to 30% faster in certain applications

Morpher targets - The FBX 2012 plug-in now supports progressive morphs

Vector Displacement Maps support - New support for Vector Displacement Maps (VDMs)

Visibility inheritance behavior enhancements - The visibility of hierarchical objects has been improved

Lines/Splines support - No longer need to convert splines to meshes

New Triangulate export option - More robust and accurate tessellation

Auto-key type support - New support has been added for Auto-tangent animation curve key types

Mudbox layered texture blend support - More blend modes for layered textures were added

Importer File/System FPS statistics - The Importer Statistics now display the frame rate

Global Ambient light setting - Lets you import the ambient color of a FBX file into the scene

Materials custom attributes support - Support for Material Custom Attributes has been enhanced

Substance materials export support - New and updated texture classes in FBX 2012 provide support for Substance procedural textures

Nested layered textures support - You can now work with multi-level layered textures

COLLADA (.dae) support improvements - New support for lines and arcs, together with improved robustness

The only thing I had to change from 2011.3.1 to 2012.1 is KfbxTexture to KbfxFileTexture. 

Very easy port.
