Hello Area folks,

The 2011.2 FBX plug-ins for QuickTime (Mac OSX and Windows versions) are now available for download on http://www.autodesk.com/fbx.

We took extra time in developing these new plug-ins (not releasing alongside our FBX plug-ins in April) to ensure that they were fully compatible with opening files saved by the recently released MotionBuilder 2011.  I’m happy to report that these plug-ins have also been improved upon, in regards to general FBX file compatibility, stability and performance.  The plug-ins load FBX files much quicker now and performance within the viewer has been enhanced.

Please note that the Mac OS X FBX for QuickTime plug-in is only compatible with QuickTime 7 and not QuickTime X (10.0).  QuickTime X installs with Snow Leopard by default and so it is recommended to install QuickTime 7 on Mac OS 10.6 (found on the install DVD) in order to properly view FBX files in QuickTime.  FBX compatibility with QuickTime version 10.0 is currently being worked on and should be available in an upcoming release.

Enjoy!

I cannot install Quicktime 7 on OSX 10.6.7. When is FBX going to be supported for QuickTime X (10.0)?

It’s absolutely ridiculous that there’s still no support for Quicktime X. It’s been almost a year and absolutely nothing has been done.

Why cannot I see Transparency in the FBX file viewed thru the Quicktime fbx plugin? I have tried this with just a basic lambert shader and also using per vertex painting to change transpareny. In both cases when I have transparency the quicktime fbx viewer shows the objects as fully Opaque! what am i doing wrong?
