Hello people of the Area,
I thought I should let you all know that we’ve released a new version of FBX 2010.0. We’ve named this new version FBX 2010.0.2. If you visit our website, http://www.autodesk.com/fbx, you’ll find the new installers in the Downloads section.
Why is there an updated version of FBX 2010.0?
Several European users brought a critical bug to our attention that could not wait to be addressed in our next release targeted for this late Summer / Early Fall. Essentially, if users were operating in regional settings that use a comma as a decimal symbol, as opposed to the default decimal (period), files were being corrupted. Here were the exact reproduction steps for the critical bug:
1. With Maya closed, open Windows Regional and Language Options
2. In the Regional and Language Options dialog, choose Regional Options > Customize…
3. In the Customize Regional Options dialog, replace the ‘Decimal symbol’ value with a comma
4. Click OK twice and run Maya
5. With any given scene, FILE > EXPORT… to FBX file format
6. FILE > SAVE AS… in Maya ascii format
RESULT: The Maya file may end up corrupted; all decimals in the ascii file may have been replaced with commas, making the file potentially unreadable.
This bug may have affected users who have Regional settings for languages such as French (Canadian), Italian, Hungarian, etc.
I recommend you replace your current FBX 2010.0 versions with this new 2010.0.2 version as soon as possible. It has been fully tested and validated by us.
Another more particular fix has been addressed: With previous versions, String attributes saved in MotionBuilder were not importing back into 3ds Max and Maya. This has been fixed in 2010.0.2.
The FBX SDK, FBX Extensions SDK, plug-ins and FBX Converters have all been replaced with 2010.0.2 versions. Since the FBX plug-ins for QuickTime have not been affected, the original 2010 versions remain available on our website.
If you run into any other critical issues, please do not hesitate to contact us at .
Thanks for your attention.
