Revit Architecture 2010 -> 3ds Max Design 2009 (fbx 2010.2, build 20090731)

I’m having a couple problems with exporting from Revit to 3ds Max via fbx.

The photometric webs render ok in Revit, but are rotated 90 degrees when exported to 3ds Max.

Also, ceiling tile grids that are lined up properly in Revit, aren’t aligned correctly in 3ds Max.

I’m attaching pictures of a room with the standard troffer lights rendered in both Revit and 3ds Max.

If anyone can let me know how to fix it, or point me to the proper documentation, it would be appreciated.

Thanks

I noticed this also, that the light source from revit gets rotated 90^ when imported into max 2009 or 2010 using the new version of the fbx plugin. WI resolved it by uninstalling and going back to the previous version. Not the best solution because a speed difference when importing is dramatically different with the new version vs. the original fbx plugin.

Can someone from Autodesk look into this issue with the new fbx plugin?

Hi,

Just to clarify: The 90 degree rotation issue has already been addressed in our beta development.  However, the IES web distribution defect is still ongoing.  Regardless, we aim to have this fixed by our next release.

I should also mention that we’re planning to update the 3ds Max plug-ins that are currently available on our corporate website (FBX 2010.2) with the Revit to 3ds Max 90 degree rotated lights fix.  This version will be named 2010.2.1 and I’m hoping to share these builds by early December.  When these builds have been uploaded, I’ll have a note placed underneath the 3ds Max plug-ins indicating that the rotational lights fix has been included in the builds.

Thanks,
