Okay people. Here is my dilemma. I have a whole lote of animations that have been done in Maya with custom bones, all the animations have been baked though into the bones and all controllers have been deleted. Al that I am left with is the animation and bones. Now I know a can transfere this information through fbx and then re-import it into 3dstudio max (we are using Max9 here). What I need to do is import the motion data in a max biped. We have done alot of animations pre to getting the maya animations and we dont want to lose these animations. We also want to keep the capabilties of Biped.

What I have tried so far.

I got a mel script that exports the maya file out into a BVH motion capture file. I thought great now I can import it into biped. This didnt work. So I tried renaming the bone structureof the biped to match the maya rig and then tried to import the the bvh file again. Well this failed as well.  I saw a post that you could use motion builder to import both the maya rig and the max biped and the retarget the animation information from the maya rig to the max biped. When I import the max biped it gets converted into bones I need it to stay as a biped. Can you export the new information into a file format that I can import into a max biped?

Can what Im saying be done?

Software
Maya 8.5 32bit with the 2010 FBX
3dsmax9 32bit with 20093 FBX
Motionbuilder 2009 with whatever default FBX it has.

Cheers

Antonio
