Fur does not appear to be exported when saving to FBX file from Maya.  Attached is an the Maya file.  When loaded back into Maya, the fur is lost.

I really need the fur to be saved for a project I am working on.  How can I enable this export?

Thanks.

Hi Doug,

Thank you for contacting us with this question. Unfortunately the Fur(or hair) system in Maya is something that does not export to FBX. That being said, Can you provide me with something information regarding your workflow so that we could consider it perhaps for a future release?

Thank you,

David Abitbol

Hi Again,

For additional information regarding what is supported, you can visit the following site to review the Autodesk FBX compatibility maps.

Sure.  We have artists are are creating models with fur in Maya, then export them to FBX for use in our tools and rendering engine.  Our tools and engine support loading from FBX format.
