Would be nice if Maya supported multiple animations.
Original post was about a model not animating correctly.

Doug,

We have the same issue in TNG 3D—the attached file only juggles, it does not walk.  This is with SDK 2010.0.2.
However, we are currently importing only the active take… could this change anything?

Thanks,
Dario

My bad, the third animation is the blended one.  Maya only imports a single animation and there are three in this model.

Doug,

We will look into importing all takes in a file—I think we’ll need to add an “Anim” menu in TNGViewer, in order to select the desired take… the issue with this approach is that many formats only specifiy a single animation take per model/scene, therefore FBX is in a sort of corner case…

Thanks,
Dario

Just to be complete, it would be nice to be able to see all the animations in an FBX file. I’m not sure how many apps use that feature though, because Maya does not even support it.

In a game app, I might have all the animations in one FBX file and apply them the appropriate character.  So it definitely would be nice if Maya and the TNG viewer supported this FBX feature.

Doug,

We will certainly think about adding this feature to TNGViewer—we too would love to see all animations in a file.  As I said, however, it’s difficult to make this feature orthogonal to other file formats…

Thanks,
Dario

Doug,

We’ve listened to your request—take a look at the TNGViewer thread.

Ciao,
Dario
