Hello,

I am pleased to announce the release of TNGViewer, a free OpenGL viewer for FBX and other 3D files, which also allows for image and movie export.

TNGViewer is available for Windows and Mac OS X from:

http://tng3d.com/viewer.html

The application requires QuickTime 7+ and a 64MB OpenGL card with shaders.

Without the support from this forum the development of the TNG 3D suite would have taken much longer: thanks to everybody.

Enjoy,
Dario

Good job, adario.
I downloaded and played it for a while, fantastic, I’m also impressed by its stability and quality, even with some complicated scene and skeleton, IK constraints.... the geometry looks well!  rock man!

Hello Zhihao,

Thank you for your compliments.

I’ll post a message as soon as we update TNGViewer to version 2010.0—currently we’re using 2009.3 but we should upgrade to the latest SDK “real soon now"(tm).

Ciao,
Dario

Hello again,

We have updated TNGViewer with SDK 2010.0—the transition process was fairly smooth, and it helped us identify a few import/export issues.

The latest version is available from:

http://tng3d.com/viewer.html

If you already have TNGViewer, you can use the ‘Check For Updates...’ option in the Help menu, which will download the update automatically.

The latest TNGViewer version provides improved support for materials and textures (thanks to the 2010.0 SDK), and also a few bug fixes.

Thanks,
Dario

Hello again,

We have updated TNGViewer with support for FSAA up to x 8, in both windowed and fullscreen modes on Windows and Mac OS X.  We have also fixed a few issues, including failed QuickTime movie export on Windows.

The latest version is available from:

http://tng3d.com/viewer.html

If you already have TNGViewer, you can use the ‘Check For Updates...’ option in the Help menu.

Enjoy,
Dario

Hello again,

We have updated TNGViewer with a few fixes, including missing NPOT textures on ATi cards (especially on Mac OS X).
It is available as usual from:

http://tng3d.com/viewer.html

You can also use the ‘Check for Updates...’ option in the Help menu.

Thanks,
Dario

Hello again,

We have updated TNGViewer with a few bug fixes.

We have also added two new navigation features, available as keyboard shortcuts (Shift+C and C without modifiers) and as buttons (at the top centre of the window) in icon navigation mode. The first option centres the view on the current scene/model; the second options centres the view on, and zooms it to the current scene/model.

The latest TNGViewer release is available at:

http://tng3d.com/viewer.html

As usual, the ‘Check for Updates...’ option in the TNGViewer Help menu is the fastest update route.

Thanks for your interest,
Enjoy,
Dario

Hello again,

We’ve updated TNGViewer for scenes that do not contain lights: the new default lighting model uses key/fill/back/ambient lights, each of which can be turned on or off.  This results in much improved rendering output for simple models/scenes.
We’ve also added keyboard modifier+mouse dragging shortcuts to the default icon navigation mode (previously available only in user mode).
Finally, we’ve fixed an issue where abnormally small shininess values were not being clamped correctly.

The latest release is available at:

http://tng3d.com/viewer.html

As always, you can use the ‘Check for Updates...’ option in the TNGViewer Help menu.

Enjoy,
Dario

I forgot to mention that the latest TNGViewer release also supports choosing the background color (for models/scenes without skybox objects).  This option uses the system color picker, and it is available in the View menu.

We’ve also updated the user online documentation to the latest application release.

Thanks,
Enjoy,
Dario

Hello again,

We have updated TNGViewer to the latest FBX SDK (2010.0.2)—this release also includes support for older OpenGL cards (those with little or no fragment shading support), and a new feature called “Top Scenes”, which lets you browse graphically the most-often visited scenes/models.  More information is available in the version history.

The latest TNGViewer release is available freely for both Windows and Mac OS X.

You can also use the ‘Check for Updates...’ option in the TNGViewer Help menu.

Enjoy,
Dario

Hello,

We have updated TNGViewer again, adding a preferences dialog that contains a few FBX import options: more details are available in the version history.

As always, you can use the ‘Check For Updates...’ option in the TNGViewer Help menu to download the update.

Enjoy,
Dario
