Hi friends,
as the title says this is a batch setup for rotating a 3D text around an actor (moving or not).
Two axis nodes for tracking and a pole for checking the angle of the text.
Text must be generated on Flame - not imported image.

here is the video links:

and the batch setup:

I don’t know if this is the correct place to post this. If not, let me know please.
thanx…

Nice.
Um, what version software are you running?  I have not seen the action schematic like that, with the individual node types looking different from each other—something I’ve been wishing for for a long time… Are you running beta or something?  Glad to see it!

I have remake the nodes and replaced the old ones. I think it’s more productive to have the nodes
looking according to what they do. It is easy to redraw and replace them yourself.
If you want i can send you my set.

The idea to change the icons, is not mine.
I had replaced the nodes of my old Flint ,
to a set i found to the vfxtalk (i think) - and from what i ‘d read they pre existed.

So be very carefull not to wipe out the default ones
and give them a copy to a safe location.

The path you are looking for is :

/usr/discreet/flame_2010.SP4/menu/icons

where “flame_2010.SP4” is the version you run.

Change permissions to the folder with :
chmod -R 777 /usr/discreet/flame_2010.SP4/menu/icons/*

and take ownership with :
chown root:users /usr/discreet/flame_2010.SP4/menu/icons/*

The icons are in *.sgi format with alpha channel.
Load --> modify --> overwrite.
Restart flame and check them out. Avoid bright colors for the “axis” node.
It is used all the time and it ‘ll have negative resaults to large setups if it is bright and over saturated.

Here are mine.I use them for 2010 -2011-2012 versions.Just overwrite. Some are localized.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tw186u0gqdxa1co/waOpj6TyxN

I haven’t modified them all yet.It is very difficult to visualize the function for some nodes.
If anyone goes further or have any suggestions please share…

P.S.
This path contains the startup-shutdown images.  ; )
/usr/discreet/flame_2012.SP2/bin/res

Hey thanks so much for this.  I freelance so I might not be allowed to put them onto clients’ machines unfortunately.  It’s really high time ADSK just provided distinct looking nodes for their schematics.  Thanks again.

Only icons I need to change is the insert overwrite replace in 2013…

All's well that ends. That's why its called finishing.

Don’t forget the “action on the desktop” icon. It seems to be missing… :(((

Just got my reminder that my subscription would be coming up for renewal… yeah right. Good luck.

Sorry, but for those who don’t know, this comment relates to the hobbled version of Smoke 2013.
