New to imagemodeler…

I’m not getting why my Define WorldSpace tool is greyed out.

I brought images in.  I placed locator points, but WorldSpace tool is unavailable.

Has the scene Calibrated yet?
You cannot set up a coord system until a sucessful calibration has completed.

I’ve been using the tutorial, and I’m sorry to ask what I think is such a basic question, but how do you know if it has done a sucessful calibration.  I’ve place the locator points… the icons of the locator points are grey in the scene palette… just don’t know… thanks for your help.

It should tell you with a message when it has calibrated the scene. Locators and cameras will turn green when calibrated properly.
Green is a good calibration, Yellow is not so good, red is a bad calibration and grey is not calibrated at all.
Add more locators, and maybe a right angle or two until it does calibrate.

Thank you for your continued help… I’ve attached a screen shot of this simple test project (a tissue box) and it will not calibrate.  I’m not sure of what else to do…

I did successfully attach an image.  I really must be missing something basic because it will not calibrate.

I add the attachment but when I select the Submit button the attachement won’t post.  It’s a .jpg and it’s only 146KB.. so not sure why it’s not posting…

I’ve been having problems with attachments too, today. It normally works if you follow the guidelines in that thread I linked, but not today for some reason.

As you can see above, I’ve finally successfully attached the .jpg ... does this image help you to understand where I’m having a problem?

Not sure. You would think a simple scene like that would calibrate OK.
Have you tried forcing a calibration manualy by clicking the Calibrate button on the toolbar? The only thing I would suggest is more points, or maybe more photos.
One trick I have used on small scale scenes like this is to add real life markers before shooting, with stickers or tape or whatever. Also you can draw or print out a calibration grid and place in the scene. That gives you a scale, axies and more points. If you have another one on the back wall too, it works even beter.
I used Max to model this guy, but got a solid calibration with grids on 3 planes, and could then get accurate measurments and a few key points from the photos in IM to export to Max.

OK, I think I’ll try you’re idea of placing markers on the box.  The box corners are really jagged, and maybe that’s why it won’t calibrate.  Can’t seem to get anything to calibrate.  But I’ll try again.

Just one more question.  When you select Help, do you get an option entitled, “Activate ImageModeler”?  I’ve activated it but this option is still available.  I was thinking that maybe I wasn’t getting full use of the product because of a faulty activation… that’s why I ask.  It could be that even though you activate, you still get this option… just not sure.

Thanks for all of your help.  I hope I get this to work, because I think this is a cool product.

OK, I think I’ll try you’re idea of placing markers on the box.

Not just on the box but everywhere. Although on the subject helps a lot with modeling, putting them as far and wide as possible also, will help calibration.
So add markers on the table top, walls and objects behind. Just ensure they are all visible in at least two photos.

If I select this option I get a window showing my license info.

OK, so you get the ‘Activate’ option at the bottom of that dialog box as well even though you’ve already activated, so that’s not the problem. Ok, thanks.  I’ll work on this this weekend.

If it says the license is Permanent with no Expiration Date, then I guess it’s activated properly already.
