Defining canvas sizes for textures

Hi,
is there a way to say that the created texture canvas is defined before the extraction begins? Such as, “Extract and project it into a canvas having 1024x1024 borders?”

I am also interested in a solution for this.  I am working with software that requires fixed texture maps (512x512 or 1024x1024). Has anyone found a way to restrict (or, have better control of) the size on texture export?
