Hello again,
It is difficult to know from here what is going on with the black clips. There is a way to troubleshoot this a bit and it dovetails into the other issue where you are having problems multi selecting. It all centers on WireTap.
In the file browser lower right side there is a button for filtering timelines while looking through WireTap. Disable this button. Now in your WireTap Flame library you will see two clips presented for every one clip from Flame/Smoke. One is labeled TIMELINE the other RGB as I recall. If you click on a RGB clip you should be able to load multiple clips with no problem.
HOWEVER, since it is a raw media stream, any clip that is representing a timeline with cuts, layers, dissolves, containers, etc. is flattened. The good news here is that if you have a clip or timeline that is having issues coming across as a timeline, try loading it as a source clip (flattened). This way you can know that the media stream is at least good. If your timelines with black clips come through fine although flattened we know that WireTap is streaming the media fine but it is not parsing the timeline into clips properly. This would point back to something on the Flame side that is causing WT to have an issue.
Back to the mutli clip selection issue. Lustre by default shows WireTap timelines in a filter mode so you don’t see that source media clip. You only see what is termed a timeline clip. This is great for timelines but can be bad when you just want sources. This is because also by default you cannot multi select and load timelines. They must be done individually.
But, just like in the troubleshooting method above, we can use the timeline filter button to off and see all our clips as sources. So when you want to grab a few clips from a reel in your Flame library, turn off Timeline filter and you will see 2 clips in the Lustre WT browser for every one clip from Flame/Smoke. Select the RGB version of those single clips and your multi selection should work.
Long answer but I hope that helps. By the way, in Flame Premium 2012 the source and record clips become color coded in Lustre much like they are in Smoke and Flame. Red outlines for timelines and green outlines for source. That helps sort out what kind of clips you are seeing in the WireTap browser and in your shot library.
