I open the graph editor and select a creature to have its walkcycle manually copied and pasted along the animation, but i dont want global control on it to show since its a totally different dynamic than the walkcycle and i dont want the two to interfere when i work on its walkcycle, is there a way to hide global control curves?

You can filter nodes by typing a name or a part of the name, like p* to show only objects whose names start with a p and then select the channels you want to see by highlighting those channels in the little Outliner at the left of the Graph Editor.

ANSWER:  instead of selecting a character set, select every nodes individually in the character set, from the outliner, and to remove the unwanted global control curves out of the graph editor, just deselect it from the outliner (ctr+lclick) wizoooo

Even better, select character set and remove global control from it by removing highlighted object.
