That would be extremely hard to do. But I guess the easiest way is to cut the car into pieces which are transforming into what seems to become a transformer and then you cut to another camera where you animate the transformer transform into a car and then you reverse the transformer part.

Ok. I just wanna know how to cut my car into pieces.

I start from 1 polygon and I just extrude. So, my car is just 1 polygon.

How can I cut 1 polygon in some pieces?

Edit: Posted this before realising this was in the Maya section.

You can use the procutter compound object to cut it in custom pieces.

Thanks guys.

Where can i find the procutter compound object? In wich menu?
I search on the web and i just find the procutter compound object for 3ds max and i have Autodesk Maya 2011.

Where can i find the procutter compound object? In wich menu?

If not, Is there is another way to cut a polygon in some pieces? (Except Shatter)

Forgot you were posting in the maya section. You could look up some shatter scripts for maya but these really shatter the mesh instead of having realistic transformer pieces. I don’t know if Maya has an equivalent to max’s procutter but you can always try cutting it up yourself (after making a copy of the maya file ofcourse for back-up).

All i want to do is that -----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ui6Vfef6DLQ&feature=related

I know that the guy did it in Blender. But i’m pretty sure that is completely possible in Maya.

Anyone know how????

As I said before doing this takes a lot of time and is hard. But as you can see the truck is probably not a perfect truck on the inside but made so that it can form Optimus. Also during the animation it’s hard to avoid intersecting pieces of geometry so you can try and hide them behind the model (have them intersect when the camera is on the other side of the model). As for the parts I guess he cutted the mesh himself. I suggest listening to the fx guide podcast number 62: Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen,24-7-09. He interviews a guy from ILM who worked on transformers and he explains some of the techniques they used.

Hey sorry dude no-one was responding I haven’t ever attempted to do such an animation I was just trying to help and I never pretended to be like a pro no need to be mad.
Btw you posted this in the animation section and your main problem was cutting op your mesh which is modeling related.
