Autodesk has lots of training videos and books for learning Maya. Also play around with it in your spare time because practice makes perfect!

Hi Amaan,
I am learning Maya right now as well, and here are a few of the resources I have discovered

Take a look at the link below for a list of learning resources
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/ser...id=7343902&linkID=9242256

Below is a link to DVD/Book training
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/ser...id=2470589&linkID=9242256

And I would highly recommend taking a look at the below books.
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/ser...id=9439294&linkID=9242256

Right now I am learning maya with this book, so far its great. It does require some prior knowledge however.
http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Autodesk-Official-Training-Guide/dp/1897177380

As a reference guide I would recommend the book “The Art of Maya”. It’s great for covering
essential knowledge.

--As well make sure that the book you get uses the version of Maya that you have.--

For Sites:
digitaltutors.com has some free tutorials, as well as tutorials/DVD sets you can buy
simplymaya.com has some great tutorials as well.
highend3d has maya tutorials as well (see link below)
http://highend3d.com/maya/tutorials/

Hope it helps,
-Rob
