Hi all! I have encountered a major problem. I am running Vista on my lap.. and currently Maya has started to crash when I start it. It pops a Application file error when its launched.. then it shuts down.
It`s been working fine before so I don`t know why this is happening. I have Vista home premium 32 bit…
I have also tried shut down Aero and start the program as an administrator but it does not work. I am in deep here, can`t seem to find any solutions anywhere.. So I hope you guys maybe would have some solutions on the prob.

Hi,I dont know if you have the same problem,but my maya crashed when loading the shelf.
If yes ,you can try this.Go to documents where maya folder is and then go to maya 2008 folder ,go to prefs and find the (commandFieldContentSaved.mel).Then delete it.
If you have an older version of maya then delete all the 2008 folder from your documents and when you run maya when it ask you if you want to copy the old preferences, click yes.

Hi, I find 5 different mel`s in that folder and I`ve been trying to delete them but they just popps up again when i try to start maya.
But thanks anyway… Im currently running Maya 2008 btw.
I`ve been trying to uninstall many of the programs i didn`t have on the machine before it all crashed, in case some of them may interfere with Maya. I once had that problem with Max, I installed a game and after that max couldn`t start. weird but it worked fine again after I uninstalled the game.
If any other who may read this have any idea what`s going on here please drop a tell and help me out.
