Hi Area Folks,

I am new-to-intermediate to 3D and have a workflow question.

Is there a general workflow for working with Maya such as this: First we MODEL, Second we RIG, Third we ANIMATE, Fourth we RENDER, or is it based on the need ?

If the above is not a general workflow, can i know the general workflow ?

Please Reply…

Thank You

Hey whats up dude… you’re kinda correct… First comes the concept art then the modeling then texturing rigging lighting animating and render… BUT! Each one has to lead into the other… for example when your making the concept art you need to make sure that its can be animated… in other words you cant just draw a huge dude with a lot of armor.... you need to know how he or she or it is going to move in any and every position… In 3d there’s no such thing as limits and no such thing as cheating! also Once the concept is done you need to model the character BUT! The model needs to be riggable not every model is… So keep it a low poly count and make sure to not have 5 or 6 sided edges and have appropriate edges where the model will bend.... next comes the texturing it is important that you know that once the model is done it cannot and should not be tweaked! So UV map it and be careful not do delete any edges or faces. Once the UV’s are done you can make the blend shapes and corrective shapes for the character and then begin rigging… after rigging its all pretty much down hill animate light and render.... any questions just ask

Cheers!
