Export from Maya file that contain reference under group?

hi,

I have a very simple Maya file. that contain a top level group node (transform) and under it there is a referenced object. I use export all (same prob using export selection) to export the objects.
when I import back the file into Maya the reference looses its location in the hierarchy and always appear as a top level node.

am I doing something wrong ? is there a way to export groups with references without loosing the hierarchy ?

Any help will be appreciated :)

You’re not doing anything wrong.

This is a parents edits on export bug that is fixed in Maya 2009 Service pack 1 and greater.

In 2009, if you save your scene, rather than export all or selected, your parents edits will be saved correctly.
