I’m probably forgetting something very simple, but I can’t see any texture information in any view when I use a ramp as the color in Ubuntu (9.04+most recent updates)I also can’t figure out where the display quality tab went in the rendering menu. What’s that about? Is it all controled from the side panel options that’s on the side of the screen? I can see basic Textures fine. the base color of a shader is always displayed, but I’d rather not use 5 different shaders on one cylindrical object when I used to only have to use a U, or V ramp and just adjust colors and positions.

I have a 2 core AMD with an nVidia 7500 card, blah blah.  If anyone has any insight, or needs more information please let me know. The program starts up way fast, and responds much smoother and cleaner in Linux than in windows.  I’m loving it for the speed at which I work. Maybe it’s an Ubuntu problem, but I really think I’m forgetting something silly.  I haven’t had to tweak any system settings since Maya 8.  I would really like to be able to adjust the ramp textures from within the UV editor.

Please disregard, I just got the ramp to show on a brand new poly sphere, so I evidently am forgetting something. Probably a uvmap check somewhere, sorry.

wooo...I didn’t know that Maya can also be run on Ubuntu. I thought ‘Red Hat’ and ‘Fedora’ are the only two supported versions.
