I have a 2009 file that I need to run on 2008, is it possible to export or any other way?

I think export as .obj works…
22in Samsung T220 flatscreen and 17in. Dual Setup
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.7 Ghz
4gb DDR2
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
Wacom Intuos 3 Tablet and Pen
Windows Vista Home Premium
Maya 2008 Unlimited
Combustion 2008
Photoshop CS4 Extended

Save an ASCII file from 2009, open it in Wordpad and change the header: change Maya 2009 to Maya 2008 anywhere you see it. Save and you’re ready to rock:) Cheers

plodej pretty much nail it. I don’t have 2009 but have downloaded some 2009 files. I just open them up withTextedit (Mac) and change 2009 to 2008 anywhere you see it. I’ve only done it once for 2009 actually, and the file does to be a bit sluggish. The file is about 60 MB though.
Good Luck

No need for any text editing…
Just pop open the option-box for ‘open scene’ and tick the box that says “ignore version”

Sweet one n8skow. I now have a new way to open 2009 files. Less clicks.
