Whenever I try to select vertices or faces or lines in polygonal modeling, it doesn’t register...zilch, nada nothing. It worked out of the box but I’m afraid I’ve engaged some setting and cannot get it undone. I am not new to Maya but this is probably a simple fix. I’m not hitting the right button or something. Can someone please help?

...Also, I am interested in meeting with someone familiar with maya to relearn the software. If you live in the Chicagoland area and are semi-proficient in maya please contact me I would be interested in learning more. I used to work with this software quite a bit but do not have the time for classes.

I have the same problem, and posted last night, found here.  If someone could respond to one of these threads, it would be very helpful, as I too think that I have turn on or changed a setting on accident.  My thread has more details, about what is going on-- and pictures.  I think we are discribing the same issue.
