I am trying to send model files to someone who uses 3D studio max and I use Maya 2009, what is the best format and how do I get the textures to stay on?

Agreed, FBX would be good - though most likely your friend will have to manually assign the texture in MAX because the material systems in Maya and Max are completely different. UV map should remain intact though.

you can also export OBJ it contain UV data and so, another good way is to try real flow SD it trasfere modeling and animation data among all known 3D apps

Purchasing an expensive fluids simulator just to convert geometry files would be a bit silly though…

How do you use the exporter if you don’t need real flow?  is the exporter a stand-alone app or are they plugs for maya and max?
