I don’t know if it’s the right plate to report a bug ... anyway ...
Through Window/Settings-Preferences/Hotkey Editor, if you bind F1 to another command than Help, the Hotkey Editor shows it as changed but it doesn’t work, Maya will still launch the Help instead of the newly bound command

I believe it is not a bug nor a feature, it is simply the way Windows works. I am using Windows 7 64bit running Autodesk® Maya® 2009 x64. Seems like the F1 for Help is rather ‘built-in’.

If I where to take a guess You are using Windows, if I’m not mistaken the F1 key is Hard Coded to the Help key.  Software can’t overwrite that.  But it’s been a while that I haven’t used windows, so current versions (Vista or Windows 7) might have changed that weird behavior.

I’m also checking the trial version, and have a problem I had previously assigned a different command to shift+x, shift+c, shift+v, but this ones seem to be now mapped to turn on the snapping function, even if I unmap these they always remap themselves every time I restart maya.
Any clue?
