Hi There,
Basically i have a scene that has grown from a simple one to a complex one..
It started with 1 model animating, but i have added more models and put the whole thing inside a “factory floor” i designed. (Huge Cube, and textures on the walls and floor)
Now the Project is really heavy i guess because everything is slow and the Maxwell viewer wont even load fully and then crashes maya…
Is there a way i can “ freeze “ some of the parts… I will need to animate all the things inside and i was not sure if i delete the History that i will have full functionality of the models.
Any tips will be great..

You can make layers and hide unnecesary things when u work with smth else. Also try “use the default material” option in the wievport menu.
Also optimize scene sometimes works well if u have a lot of unused assets in the project, but be careful using that. Make coppies of your project all the time.

It may be too late for this, but perhaps it will work for your next project. When you create a character, it’s often a good idea to parent some low-res geometry to the rig and keep it on a different layer from the high-res skin. You can hide the high-res stuff when you are evaluating the scene for movement. Adding a lot of your background stuff to layers and templating them can also help.
Check your textures - high res textures fully displayed can also slow things down.
The bottom line is that you should eliminate, hide, or substitute as much as you can for this sort of thing. As you work, you should anticipate the need to do this (like creating the low-res geometry for the character) and handle it as you go. Next time.
You can also work with references - you can “load” or “unload” large sections of your scene that you may not need all the time.
Incidentally, it’s pretty common practice to divide up a large scene like this into different layers, and to composite the layers together in post.
