I’m double clicking on the Icon on my Desk top… When I do that the Autodesk Maya 2010 Logo Window Appears for 2-3 sec and then the Script Editor appears with an Error.... This is what it says:

//Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2010/scripts/startup/layerEditor.mel line 4138: Could not find attribute named “defaultRenderLayer.precomptemplate”

I Need help cause I cant work with my Maya 2010 Files!!!!!

P.s I also have Maya 2009 but it works fine....

Your prefs are corrupted. Quit Maya, rename the prefs folder, then start Maya again.

Then send the corrupted prefs to Autodesk, so that they can fix this problem. Many people have asked the same question, but very few have reported the bug. Some people just seem to accept that prefs break and rename them all the time. You shouldn’t. Log a bug here: http://autodesk.com/maya-bugreport
