Hi Friends,

My scene has been destroyed! all of my layers are gone. the hypershade editor is completely empty with only “Lambert 1”, my model have no shaders now,the objects in the scene are gone, in some cases only parts of grouped objects are here. the missing objects still show up in the outliner but i cannot see them in workarea.I have been saving incrementally and have almost 10 files for this scene. ALL have the same problem. i even have all these files saved on an external hardrive and a flash drive as well as my PC, when i bring those versions in, same problem. everything is not there. what the hell happened?..........Plz Help Me!!![/]

If you create a new object in these scenes - does it display in the viewport correctly?

I would reset maya preferences or even reinstall maya and see if that solves the issue.

To reset the preference just delete them, usually they are located on

\Users\<username>\Documents\maya\2010\en_US\prefs

Hi, happen to me one time, and your scene is probably corrupt, hope you have a backup or good luck. You can look in your temp files just in case.
A good backup strategy is very recommend for your maya projects.
Have you tried to just close and restart your Maya with your scene? What is the size of your scene in MB and what is the original size (to compare before and after the corruption)? Can you see your objects in outliner or its empty (only default objects)? if empty, sorry not a good start.

Eric

Hi Eric, Everything is there in outliner, this file is a maya8.5 (.ma format). the backup files also acts the same… The file size is 2.7 MB. Please tell me if there is a remedy for it.

Hi, you can send your file, ill take a look. Are you sure there is nothing hidden? Look like those invisibles files are hidden because you can create new objects in your scene. You can try to select your objects in the outliner and export them to a new scene.
I dont think the problem is Maya, look like a bad setting or a corrupt file.

Hi Guys,

Thank you so much for your answer about removing the preferences folder!  I had a problem where importing a sound file caused the render settings dialog so disappear, my cloth simulation stopped working, and all my textures disappeared from the HyperShade - even though they were still on the models!

I had to rebuild the scene by importing all the animated stuff and copying it onto fresh versions of the models, but after that, deleting preferences cured the sound import problem, and I can get beck to work!

Thank you again.

Jules

Hello mate, as landru said try opening a new scene and importing this broken scene in.

But you said that your hypershader has lost all of the shaders, right?

So your scene is still there but there are no shaders on the objects therefore they render invisible, Try rebuilding the shaders then selecting the objects in the Outliner and assigning the new Shaders to them, this should render them visible again.

Good luck:)
