Yea, I rolled back both Max and Maya 2012. Nice job Autodesk, I really feel like that $1,000 I invested was a wise expender of capital.

As a fellow Max user I might point out all the newer view port features are Nvidia only. So make sure you’re running DirectX9 for both max and Maya. Seems obvious but it may be the issue because the 5900 firepro looks like a good card. I see that ATI has a driver specifically for Max. Have you tried that? Also check out the Autodesk page that has certified drivers. Might be the other solution.

AMD FirePro V5900 is on Autodesk’s approved list: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/ser...&product=72&os=512&hw=218 so you should be Ok.

Are you using DVI, HDMI or RGB connections to your monitors?

Also make sure you use the optimum resolution for the monitor, that’s 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz, or you might get flickering or blurring on the screen. It’s higher then what most people are used to working at.

Hey,
Having a specific issue within Maya 2013. It’s hard to explain, but take a look and let me know if you have any knowledge of the solution.

This regards Animation Layers: previously, with animation layers you could have base animation, add an animation layer, and within that new layer you could middle click and drag on the timeline to set a key matching a previous position/pose, and have it set that key in world space. Basically it would offset the animation from the base animation layer and allow that key in the animation layer to be in the same world space as the key being copied.
This was an invaluable asset, particularly when working with motion capture.

Unfortunately, using Maya 2013 this functionality is no longer intact. It appears Maya now adds the key in the animation layer to the base animation, resulting in double transforms, rather than an offset.

Sorry if this is confusing. As I said it’s a particularly difficult issue to explain in writing.

Any help appreciated.
