Hello all,
I have a rock model and I’d like to place a worm model I’ve made on the different faces of the rock.  The rock itself has many faces and it would be a very painful process to put a worm model on these faces with the different rotations and transforms by hand one by one.  I was wondering if anyone knows of a script or even a tool in Maya that can accomplish this without using a brute force method.

-Maybe I can use the paint effects tool and somehow load up my own custom model as a brush model?
-Maybe I can just make a script using the normal of each face to determine the rotation of my worm model for each unique face?

Anyway, any advice would increase my happiness.  Thanks!

Regards,
Dan

Thanks for the suggestion.  However the align tool only seems to deal with objects in object mode.  I want to be able to align one object to different faces of a different object.

(or am I not using the Align Tool properly?)

So I guess a better example would be if I had a very bumpy sphere, how would I put a tree model on each face, where the tree’s rotation is equal to the face’s normal, without having to do it by hand?
