Because a lot of times when I want to select just a vertex or an edge I end up also selecting other objects as well, and it’s very annoying. I don’t want to have to turn backface culling off though, because I use it a lot.

use a click instead of click-dragging your selection

alternatively put all the objects you are not working on into a layer and set that layer to reference

That works perfectly (the reference layer). The click too, but it doesn’t work if two different objects have vertices on exactly the same point (e.g. if you use ‘snap to point’), so in that case reference layers work better.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,
When you select the object you want to modify, click ctrl h, or alt h or ctrl alt h to show or hide the other objects.
hope it helps.
