hey guys.  i am trying to insert a file under the transparency attribute so anything black on that file will be transparent.  someone showed me the other day and it seemed like you just hit the little box next to the attribute and then file and choose the file in the file path line.  i apologize if this seems confusing but any help would be appreciated.  thanks guys.

Transparency - two cubes on the right (black and white) then choose -file and find your fie. Thats all. Are you UV coordinates right?

What is your object looks like? Put a picture or send me your project to better understanding
Select object then Window-UV editor. If there is a mess it is bad.

well all im using is straight up nurb planes or poly planes.  would other objects in the scene effect it?i wouldnt think so especially since i have tested this in a new scene with nothing else.  does the file i selevt for the transparency attribute have to be a certain file type say jpeg or psd?  again thank you very much for your help artpetrovich.

Strange, planes is easyest. Other object don’t effect on transparency, if they have different materials. Use jpeg or psd is ok. Black color-transparent, white-normal
