Hey Guy’s,

My name’s Jack Jellis and I’m starting to get into 3D modelling and have a few question’s.

I’m using Autodesk Maya 8.5 PLE and have a few issues with it.

1, The option of using Mental ray seem’s to have gone, It say’s “Maya Software” “Maya Hardware” and “Maya Vector” but Nothing to do with Mental ray which I used to be able to choose.

2. I’ve made quite a good little animation for a first go and would like to capture it on video and post it on here or Youtube, What software should I use?

3. I’ve also downloaded Autodesk Motionbuilder PLE, Is there any way of exporting my file’s from Maya into motion builder?

Thanks for you help in advance, have a nice day, Jack.

Hi Jack,

To get Mental Ray back, go to “Window-> Settings/Preferences-> Plug-in Manager” and then click the check marks for the “Mayatomr.mll” plugin. This will load the Mental Ray plugin. Save your preferences afterwards. Good luck.

In the render globals, render to image sequence, (.tga, .tif, whathaveyou), and then assemble the frames in fcheck or a 3rd party editing app like virtualDub, Premiere, etc…
