Lost animation

After I converted my character to polygons and textured it, I found out that the skeleton moves separately from the body.
What can I do to connect it back? At what point could the skeleton be separated from the body?

you may be able to re skin the geometry to skeleton as log as its still animated.

it should not separate if you converted from NURBS but subDiv… im not too sure
