I know I will probably be disheartened by the answers but I have to ask. My current dilemma is that I created a large number of projects using Maya 8.5 PLE, back when I bought a couple of books: Foundations & Modelling and Animation. I am finally attending school in the field and my instructors want me to produce the projects I worked on in the PLE. Unfortunately I lost that computer ages ago but I have the backed up scenes and projects. I also can’t locate the original Foundations book CD/DVD. I have already installed the new 2011 Maya version but I have an Alienware M11X that can just barely handle the 8.5 PLE if I can find it.
It’s disappeared off the face of the internet. I know the .mp files can not be converted and that’s not the issue. I simply want to find a download for the 8.5 PLE so I can show the instructors and be done with it. Thanks in advance to any help you can provide.
I am holding to the hope that it’s just hard to find and not truly gone forever.
**EDIT**
I got very very very lucky and found a copy of the old Maya 8.5 ple and accompanying software license. I must have hidden it under a mound of other backups since those days.

Keep the license somewhere safe…
The PLE version was discontinued 2 years ago.
