I’ve encountered a very frustrating error while doing a batch render.
The Maya Render Log reads:

Maya binary file parse error:  : (16) bad size
File read in 1 seconds.
Error: Error reading file.
Error: Error reading file.

I have no problem rendering out a single frame.
I don’t know what to do. I’ve been looking over the web for days now but is appears no one knows this error.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks a lot.

are you using any imagefiles in your scene? possibly a bad file…

I am using a lot of image files but I verified all the connections and everything should work.
When I run the render diagnostic I don’t get any errors and I even optimized the file size to delete every unused node.

may still be a bad image file - truncated or otherwise corrupted…
are you able to view all your imagefiles in a image viewing app?

I just checked again and there appears no be no problem with the image files.
They all work in Windows Picture Viewer. I also renamed all of them so they wouldn’t have too long file names or spaces and weird characters in them.

does everything display in your viewport correctly? all the geometry there?
tried resaving the maya scene?

Yeah, everything is there and nothing seems to be missing.
I’m working on a pretty extended project and I have 6 scenes all with the same problem. They’re big files, 70mb.
I thought maybe that had to do with it but it doesn’t look like that would be a problem.

Probably a corrupt scene file.
Something you created?

If you saved the scene as a MayaAscii file (.ma) you can open it in a text editor and try copying chunks of the scene into a fresh file. But if it’s saved as a MayaBinary file (.mb) your pretty much out of luck.

For future reference, save backups or use incremental saves for just this occasion.
