Wow, today I made an important discovery.  I found Hypershade.  I came upon it in some tutorial, and I have seen it all over the place.  I am assuming it is a big part of Maya, and I really want to learn how to use it.  Can someone disect it for me, and show me what it can do texture-wise.
Thanks!
(Sorry if this is a stupid question)

Hypershade is a base editor of materials. In work area you are able to modify the connections between materials and it’s basic parameters. Input and output params of materials. What do you want to have?

The reason I wanted to learn the basics of using hypershade is because in THIS tutorial, he uses hypershade to add a displacement map to an object.  When I opened hypershade, I had no idea of what I was doing.  I just want to know what I can do, or do easier with this when it comes to texturing or displacement maps.
Thanks!

Sorry, I just don’t get the input and output of materials, and when I made a material in hypershade, I couldn’t drag it to the model loke it said in the tutorial.

That would be very helpful, so what are the inputs and outputs and what can those do?  Are those just other aspects of the material.
Thanks for the help so far.
