Hi,

I am coming from XSI ... I am going NUTS in the hypershade. All I am trying to do is mix a lambert with a phong using a black and white image for a matte. In XSI they have a mixer node for this purpose.

Also ... where do I find all the maya presets for metals etc ?

Thanks

Michael

Mixing node just blends to items together similar to photoshop layer transparency

What you want to do is connect the lambert and phong into the colorGain, and colorOffset of your images File Texture Node Then you can place the file texture into a layered shader. Hopefully the attached files will help you if my description doesn’t make since

You can find metal presets under the mia_material, otherwise you will have to make some yourself.  The preset button is in the material settings.

Thanks !!! I hate being new to software =)

Actually I was looking for the mix_8_color node .. found it. Works great. =) Way easier to just mix materials using the weight channel. I’ll post an image later.
